Venues

First Avenue-the mother-lode for us music fans in the region. Like the new sight lines and always can get a good meal at the Depot next door.

Varsity Theater-one of the most under-rated venues in the Twin Cities, right in the heart of Dinkytown.

Triple Rock Social Club-have been attending more shows here lately.  One thing about the Triple Rock, the shows always rock.  Check out Bacon Wednesdays.

Amsterdam Bar and Hall-one of my favorite St. Paul hangouts.  Thanks to Mayor Chris Coleman for getting this done.  Great to have a place to see live music in downtown St. Paul.  Check out their menu, great pot brownies and I have to get there for a hash brunch soon.

Turf Club-a St. Paul institution.  Always good drinks, good bands and great people.  Not a bad pool table too.

Ritz Theater-great place in Northeast Minneapolis to see a show.  Right down the road from the 331 Club so you have something to do afterwards.

Local Music Reading

City Pages-Gimme Noise-not a good as having the paper in your hands but obviously much more convenient.

Vita.mn-I really enjoy the work of Chris Riemenschneider who you can also catch at the Star Tribune.

The Current Local Music Blog-Andrea Swensson, who recently moved to the Current from the City Pages does an excellent job keeping us up to date on the local music scene.

Music Scene Minneapolis-a new entry in the market.  Short but insightful reviews by a legion of followers.  Expect to see some of my work there.
